CEO portrait: Chris O’Shea, Centrica

Centrica’s Morecambe Bay gas platform

A fascinating recent assignment for Bloomberg news - a visit to UK energy company Centrica’s planned carbon capture and storage (CCS) project at the company’s gas production site in Morecambe Bay, Lancashire.

I flew out to the offshore platform just as storm Babet began to hit the UK with 60mph wind and torrential rain - not an ideal day for my first-ever helicopter ride, or to shoot some portraits of Centrica CEO Chris O’Shea, and some commercial images of the platform.

The foul conditions was pretty challenging to work in (why does no-one make camera windscreen wipers?) but being able to produce the required pictures - whatever the weather - is all part of the job.

Luckily for me, Centrica CEO Chris was an absolute star, cheerily posing in conditions that would have sent lesser CEOs running for cover. With the portraits in the bag, I shot a range of commercial stock images of the platform for Bloomberg to use in future coverage, before the weather forced us back into the helicopter and back to (not very) dry land.
